    Gary Barlow slams Tulisa

    Gary Barlow slammed Tulisa Contostavlos' ''fag ash breath'' on last night's (27.10.12) 'X Factor'.

    The Take That frontman hit out at his fellow judge after she criticised his song choice for Christopher Maloney, who performed Cutting Crew's '(I Just) Died in Your Arms'.

    After praising the quality of Christopher's vocals, Tulisa turned to Gary and said: ''How many of these '80s classics are you going to let him keep destroying? Every week he's getting the same critique from all of the judges. I even feel bad having to say the same thing.''

    Gary lashed out in response, saying: ''I don't know what's offended me more. What you've said or your fag ash breath.''

    The 'Young' singer looked momentarily stunned before hitting out, saying: ''Just a note for Gary - lay off the red wine because I can really smell that as well.''

    Appearing on 'The Xtra Factor' after the main show, Gary apologised to Tulisa and said she could insult him as much as she wanted for the rest of the series.

    He said: ''Tulisa I mean it, you have the freedom to be as personal as you like with me for the rest of the series. Insult me.''

    However, his co-judge looked unimpressed, saying: ''Don't do that on screen.''

    Meanwhile, hopeful Jahmene Douglas was hailed as ''world class'' by the judges following his performance of 'Killing Me Softly'.

    Louis Walsh said: ''For me, you are the best singer in this competition by a mile - we haven't had a UK star like you for a long time.''

    However, Louis was less impressed by both Kye Sones and Jade Ellis, telling them he feared for their futures in the competition.

    Ella Henderson received a mixed response over her performance of Evanescence's 'Bring Me To Life' while Rylan Clarke typically failed to win over Gary.

    Undeterred, he pledged afterwards: ''I really do want to impress you Gary, so if I get through this week, I'll leave all this and I'll stand here and sing you a song.''

    James Arthur won rave reviews when he closed the show, and Louis' boy bands District3 and Union J also divided the judges.

    Lucy Spraggan missed this week's show because of illness.
