Two Irish banks have passed a strict European stress test.
Bank of Ireland and AIB have both been deemed to have met the stress requirements and to not be in need of additional capital.
The Committee of European Banking Supervisors subjected 91 European banks to tests to see how they would cope with potential losses.
The sovereign risk profile in the two banks is perceived to be smaller than some of their European peers whilst several banks, particularly those in Spain failed the test.
