Healthcare facing €1bn cut in budget

The country's healthcare bill is reportedly facing a cut of €1bn in the budget on December 9th.
The Sunday Business Post has reported that the Garda pay and overtime bill is also facing a reduction of 100 million.
Negotiations on the budget are reaching a crucial phase and the Minister for Finance is due to publish his pre-budget report this week.
Brian Lenihan is expected to spell out the scale of the crisis facing the country next year if severe cuts are not made.
Meanwhile the report on higher level public sector pay is reported to include a recommendation that bonuses for public and civil servants be abolished.
