Traffic warning issued ahead of protests

The AA has told people to expect very heavy traffic in some areas of the country as a number of protest marches will be taking place in cities and towns across the country this afternoon.

The protests are part of the Irish Congress of Trade Union's "Not our debt" campaign and will take place in Dublin, Galway, Cork, Limerick, Sligo and Waterford. Most of the protests are due to begin at 1.30pm on Saturday (09.02.13).

Unions are urging as many members as possible to take part in the marches and it is expected that as many as 100 thousand people will participate in demonstrations around the country.

Dublin Bus has will be rerouting 47 of its services in Dublin city due to the protests. A full list of the diversions can be found on the Dublin Bus website.
