More protests are expected across the Muslim world after noon prayers today, against a film made in the US, insulting the prophet Muhammed.

President Obama has pledged to do whatever it takes to protect Americans abroad.

Several people have been arrested by Libyan authorities, in connection with the attack on the US consulate in Benghazi on Tuesday.

US ambassador to Libya Christopher Stevens and three other embassy staff were killed in the attack.

Similar protests have spread across the Middle East.

US secretary of State Hillary Clinton has condemned the violence.
