Loyd Grossman to judge Cowell cooking show

Loyd Grossman is to judge Simon Cowell's new TV show. The original 'MasterChef' host - who fronted the programme from 1990 to 2000 - will join Tom Parker-Bowles, the son of Prince Charles' wife Duchess Camilla, on 'Food Glorious Food'.

An insider said: ''It is a great coup signing up Loyd to the show as he was always a favourite on the original version of MasterChef.

''Tom is also one to watch - and will bring a touch of class to proceedings.'' The ITV1 show - which starts filming next month - will see a team including Loyd and Tom scour the nation to find Britain's best-loved recipe, and will see the winning dish go on sale in Marks & Spencer.

Loyd quit 'MasterChef' when it moved from a Sunday afternoon BBC1 slot to primetime Tuesday evenings on BBC2, branding the change ''moronic''. He added at the time: ''The programme is a dumb thing now and I don't want to be involved.''

Simon has previously said he wants to celebrate everyday ''home food'' on the new show. He said: ''I like home food, I love it. My mum's roast potatoes. Shepherd's pie. Cornish pasties. I want stuff like that on the show.''
