Police in Britain investigating the disappearance of schoolgirl Tia Sharp have discovered a body and arrested her grandmother's partner.

Stuart Hazell was detained after a body was earlier found during a search of Tia's grandmother's house in South London. Mr Hazell, 37, is the partner of Tia's grandmother.

Police discovered Tia's body in the home of her grandmother, in New Addington in south London last night.

The 12 year-old had been missing for over a week.
