The Government is due to approve a €2bn stimulus package today.

The money has been earmarked for investment in infrastructure.

Details of the investment are due to be formally announced by the Government later on today.

The plan is due to be financed by the pension reserve fund, the future sale of state assets and a public private partnership.

The development of a DIT campus at Grangegorman, which was scrapped last month, is expected to reappear on the list of developments that will benefit from the new funding.

Major road projects in Galway and Wexford, school buildings and healthcare facilities are all expected to be built as part of the stimulus package
