Leaked figures show economy shrank 1.1% in the first quarter

Leaked figures to be officially published today show the economy shrank by 1.1% in the first quarter of the year.

The national accounts were accidentally uploaded to the Central Statistics website for a time last night, and show GNP shrank by 1.3%.

There was some good news though, as the CSO revised its growth estimate for 2011 upwards, from 0.7% to 1.4%.
