Hosni Mubarak is on a life support machine in hospital.
He was briefly declared "clinically dead" last night but military sources have since contradicted this.
The former President slipped into a coma yesterday, after suffering a heart attack and a stroke.
Mubarak ruled Egypt for the past three decade before being overthrown by an uprising in the country last year.
The 84-year-old had been sentenced to life in prison earlier this month, for his role in the deaths of protesters.
