Defending champion Rory McIlroy is fighting to make the cut at the US Open.

With the projected cut falling at 4 over, McIlroy is struggling on 8 over after 4 holes of his second round.

Elsewhere on the leaderboard, Graeme McDowell is three shots off the lead on 1 under after three holes.

Tiger Woods will resume from 1 under.

Overnight leader Michael Thompson will tee off from 4 under.

While Padraig Harrington will tee off later from 4 over.

Peter Lawrie is also struggling on 9 over.
