The cover photo for the Beatles' Abbey Road was shot at around 11.30am on the morning of August 8th, 1969, 45 years ago today.
Hundreds of fans have gathered at the site of the original photo - probably the world's most famous zebra crossing - in London this morning to commemorate the photograph, taken by freelance photographer Iain Macmillan, this morning and through the wonders of the internet you can watch the gathering right now from the Abbey Road webcam.
The cover of what is regarding as one of the greatest albums of all time was one of a number of ideas Paul McCartney had gone through with the photographer on the morning of the shoot.
A policeman held up traffic and gave the band 10 minutes to shoot the iconic cover shot as Macmillan stood on a stepladder positioned in the middle of the road and attempted to recreate the crewd drawings of McCartney.
A larger collection of behind-the-scenes photos can be seen here, but here is the finished product.
