An arson and explosives expert, Horatio Caine left the bomb squad to take over the CSI labs. He is a tireless crusader for what he views as "his city", spending his free time poring over scientific articles to better understand the criminal mind. Without a family or intimate relationship of his own, he is haunted by the death of his brother, a Miami-Dade narcotics officer who was abusing crystal meth at the time of his murder.
