Powerful waves have caused a ship to wreck just offshore from the Chilean town of Llolleo in the region of Valparaiso.

Spectators flocked to see giant waves crashing against the hull of the Hong Kong flagged vessel "Ocean Breeze".

According to local media, 22 crew members were airlifted to hospital and are reported to be in good condition.

The powerful waves also breached the city's sea wall, spilling onto the streets and disrupting traffic.
